Podsync looks promising, I will give it a try. Gpodder won't install, as mentioned. Nothing has happened with gpodder since April, so I am not on the edge of my seat. As for Canola it just won't download episodes in a stable manner, I believe this is already reported in the bug database though.

It will be fully charged overnight, yes. Arguably it might not be the best thing to do to retain the long-term durability of the battery, but it will certainly work.

Probably a bit off topic, but it kind of concerns podcasts and downloading of mp3 files. When downloading mp3 files in the browser in OS 2008, the mp3 file starts streaming. How do I make it download, rather than having it stream? (Google is not helping me much)

It's saved in /podcasts/, for me (on the N800) on the Removable memory card. Not sure if one can change it, but that default path is ok for me.
However, after playing around with podcasts on Canola, it has too many things wrong with it for me to be able to actually put it to good use. When I attempt to download something, two out of three times I will get an "Error downloading". When something actually was downloading the status-bar only actually showed me the status once (out of the 5-6 podcasts I downloaded), but my biggest problem is that "download" seems to be equivalent to "download and play". When listening to one file while downloading another it started playing the file I was downloading.

Canola installed - and working fine. On N800, old OS for now. The podcast part looks especially interesting to me.

Would you recommended putting OS2008 on the N800 yet, or should I wait to save myself the bother?

That's freaky. Only a few seconds before I got this message over IM I was wondering "Is the new Canola out?", and Googled "Canola". Effective result, I must say.
